Turin – Juventus vice president, Pavel Nedved, revealed the impact of Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival. Bianconeri’s ranks among the Blue Continent elites were automatically lifted.
Juventus bring Ronaldo from Real Madrid in the transfer market this summer. The Serie A giant redeemed it for 100 million euros – making it the most expensive player in Italy.
Ronaldo is considered the best footballer in the world today, along with Lionel Messi. CR7 is the owner of five Ballon d’Or titles and has just led Madrid to win the Champions League three times in a row. Ronaldo is also listed as the Champions League’s top scorer with 120 goals.
Ronaldo’s achievements in Europe are quite a contrast with Juventus, which is precisely the difficulty of achieving in the Blue Continent. In the last three seasons, the Old Lady has failed twice in the Champions League final.
Nedved was now optimistic about Juventus in Europe thanks to Ronaldo’s arrival. He considered his team to be equal to compete with European elites.
“Juventus’ progress between big clubs in Europe has been confirmed. That we managed to bring Ronaldo to Juventus is something extraordinary,” Nedved was quoted as saying by the US.
“This will give us little opportunity in the future, as well as for Italian football,” he continued.
The 2018/2019 Italian League will begin to be held this weekend. Ronaldo has the chance to make his debut against Genoa on Saturday (18/8).
Serie A 2018/2019 will roll again this weekend. Still the same as the last eight years, who is the club that can stop Juventus?
Juve are too strong in Serie A since Antonio Conte became their coach in the 2011/2012 season. After that, Juve always ended the season as champions including in the current Massimiliano Allegri era.
If counted, Conte berandil in the presence of three scudetto while Allegri gave four scudetto including last season while straddling Napoli. Even though Il Partenopei was able to stay away from Juve and even won the mid-season title.
The public naturally appraised this because in addition to the arrival of Ronaldo who was worth 100 million euros, Juve also managed to attract Emre Can, Mattia Perin, Joao Cancelo, and Leonardo Bonucci. You can imagine the strength of the Old Lady this season.
Then, who would be able to block or at least force Juve to compete until the end of the season to fight for the title? There are three clubs that last season finished the top four with the Bianconeri, namely AS Roma, Napoli and Inter Milan.
Of the three clubs, Inter are clearly in pole position in their status as Juve’s rivals. Entering his second season with Inter, Luciano Spalletti already understands what tactics are right for the team with available players. [AK]
